Aged Care Royal Commission finds access to allied health a key factor in person-centred aged care

3 March 2021

The final report of the Aged Care Royal Commission has been released. The report summary includes the findings that allied health care should be available to older people as part of home-based care to restore and maintain their physical and mental health to the highest level possible, and form an intrinsic part of residential care.

Recommendations include increased access to allied health services, an initial assessment of individuals’ needs on entering the aged care system, and dedicated funding for allied health services.
