Establishing and sustaining regional and rural radiation therapy centres

January 2020

This document is AHPA’s response to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) consultation paper on establishing and sustaining regional, rural and remote radiation therapy centres. The paper covered topics such as standards for regional radiation therapy centres, information technology and data protection, staffing requirements, research and training, stakeholder involvement and infrastructure considerations for regional radiation therapy centres.

AHPA’s feedback focused on the role and responsibilities of allied health professionals in cancer care as well as the potential barriers for allied health participation in such centres.

Update: The College has now published the final document, which is available from the RANZCR website. AHPA is pleased to note that RANZCR has taken our feedback on board, particularly the need for planning and funding of dedicated allied health services to support these centres.
