Joint Standing Committee on the NDIS Inquiry into Independent Assessments – Supplementary Submission

This submission supplements our response to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Inquiry into Independent Assessments. It examines the literature provided by the National Disability Insurance Agency and concludes that there is no evidence to support the NDIA’s claim that independent assessors are needed because participants’ usual health professionals suffer from ‘sympathy bias’.

Following this supplementary submission we submitted a response to a committee question. In response we explained why we do not regard the assessment tools selected by the NDIA as appropriate measurements to inform a funding decision in a NDIS plan.

In response to Joint Standing Committee Written Question on Notice 28 May 2021.
