Letter in response to the Advisory Report on the Aged Care Amendment (Staffing Ratio Disclosure) Bill 2018

Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA) has written to Rebekha Sharkie MP in response to the release of the Advisory Report on the Aged Care Amendment (Staffing Ratio Disclosure) Bill 2018 and in her capacity as sponsor of the Bill. While the report made several positive recommendations and acknowledged some of the issues around reporting on allied health roles, no changes were recommended to address these.

AHPA continues to argue that for reporting on allied health roles in residential aged care to be meaningful, individual categories must be created for different professions. We do not understand a system that prescribes five individual reporting categories for registered nurses but only one to cover the many distinct allied health professions.
