AHPA has written to Rebekha Sharkie MP in response to the release of the Advisory Report on the Aged Care Amendment (Staffing Ratio Disclosure) Bill 2018 and in her capacity as sponsor of the Bill.
While the report made several positive recommendations and acknowledged some of the issues around reporting on allied health roles, no changes were recommended to address these.
AHPA continues to argue for individual categories for different allied health professions in reporting on residential aged care. A system that prescribes five individual reporting categories for registered nurses but a single category to cover the many distinct allied health professions does not allow for meaningful reporting.
