AHPA’s submission in response to the NDIA Consultation Paper: National Disability Insurance Scheme Psychosocial Disability Recovery-Oriented Framework.
Overall, we support the NDIA’s rationale for the Framework as modernising and strengthening the focus on recovery for participants living with psychosocial disability. However, we highlight some internal inconsistencies in the Framework and the need to clarify the Framework’s fundamental purpose.
We propose that the best way to embed a consistent Framework is to expressly adopt the broad human rights approach already in the NDIS legislation. To ensure an effective Framework, all key stakeholders must also be engaged and represented.
