Submission: Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Consultation on Draft Aged Care Quality Standards Guidance Resources

AHPA welcomes the development of the draft guidance resources, which as elaboration of the revised Aged Care Quality Standards include some useful content concerning the role of and requirements for allied health services in the aged care system.

However, despite the positive changes we have identified, AHPA remains concerned that if the current revised Standards are legislated and the present draft guidance finalised in its current form, regulation of aged care quality and safety will continue to be insufficient, particularly with respect to allied health.

Comments is our submission on the draft guidance material specific to individual Standards are underpinned by a practical question: ‘What difference, if any, will the application of the Standards and their translation into practice via the guidance resources make to the provision allied health services in home and residential aged care?’
