AHPA is delighted to be a member of the Australian Digital Health Agency’s  Council for Connected Care.

The council has been established to support national implementation of the National Healthcare Interoperability Plan 2023-2028 ,  and provide strategic advice on matters related to connecting care (interoperability).

The Council

The Council is chaired by Mr Rob Heferen, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and membership is drawn from a broad range of stakeholders across the health and care continuum and digital health technology sector. A full member list is available here.

The inaugural meeting of the Council for Connected Care took place on 7 June 2023.

The need for a connected healthcare system is greater than ever – one that’s accessible and secure and puts Australians even more firmly at the centre of their own healthcare.

The Plan

The Connecting Australian Healthcare – National Healthcare Interoperability Plan 2023-2028 (the Plan) was developed following extensive consultations with more than 150 stakeholders.

The Plan outlines a national vision to share consumer health information in a safe, secure and seamless manner and identifies 44 tangible actions across five priority areas relating to identity, standards, information sharing innovation and measuring benefits.
