The Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA) has been formally announced as the Assessing Authority responsible for conducting migration skill assessments for the profession of Orthotist/Prosthetist (251912). This is a major change in government policy and a great outcome for the profession. The government decision was influenced by the AOPA Entry Level Competency Standards and Assessment of Competence processes.
All internationally qualified orthotic/prosthetic practitioners must now complete AOPA’s robust competency assessment process prior to being granted a Skilled Migration Visa. This ensures that all internationally qualified practitioners who enter the Australian workforce meet AOPA’s standards and are competent to practice as orthotist/prosthetists in Australia.
More information about the application process can be found on the AOPA website.
