The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) today announced two important updates likely to be relevant for participants and providers.
New pathway experience
A new National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) ‘pathway’ has been designed to significantly improve the experience people and organisations have with the NDIS and the NDIA. The pathway includes measures to improve access and communication, as well as a broad approach to ensuring the right supports and outcomes are available to participants. The new pathway will be progressively piloted and tested over the coming months before being rolled out nationally.

Increase of price limits for short term accommodation supports
The NDIA has announced its intention to increase price limits for short term accommodation (STA) supports from Monday 30 October 2017. The Agency notes that the changes are the result of feedback and evidence that the current price limit is not sufficient in many circumstances. The new price limits, which are consistent with early findings of the Independent Pricing Review (IPR), acknowledge the difference in costs to STA providers during different times of the week, and for participants with more complex support needs.
An updated price guide will be published on the NDIA website and the changes will be communicated to participants and providers. This change demonstrates the NDIA’s commitment to the development of a vibrant and innovative NDIS market that is growing rapidly to support increasing numbers of NDIS participants.
