New aged care and palliative care provider resources released

Published 27 April 2018

The Commonwealth Department of Health has released a range of new resources to support providers working in aged care and palliative care.

New My Aged Care videos for providers and assessors

Two new videos have been developed to help providers and assessors use the Australian government’s My Aged Care portal.

The first video is: Navigating and viewing information in the Client Record. This provider-focused video gives an overview of how to use the My Aged Care provider portal to:

  • locate a client
  • view detailed client information
  • navigate the different tabs within a client record.

The second video is: Matching and identifying existing client records. This video is focused on supporting assessors to use the My Aged Care assessor portal and details the best practice for registering a new client including searching for a client using:

  • legal and/or preferred name
  • date of birth.

All My Aged Care support materials for providers and assessors are available on the department’s website.

New palliative care resource

Information, resources and services for palliative care and advance care planning are now available on the ‘End of Life Directions for Aged Care’ (ELDAC) website. This online resource will support health professionals and aged care staff to provide care to senior Australians in residential aged care and the community.

The End of Life Directions website includes:

  • five toolkits to make meaningful and practical materials readily available
  • a phone service (1800 870 155) to help users quickly navigate to the most appropriate resource.

ELDAC is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. It is managed by a consortium led by the Queensland University of Technology.
