Sparked celebrates one year
Sparked is a community comprising government, technology vendors, provider organisations, peak bodies, practitioners, and domain experts to accelerate the creation and use of national FHIR standards in health care information exchange.
AHPA is proud to be recognised as one of the Sparked founding members as the organisation celebrates its first year.
Sparked Brisbane community co-design workshop
At a recent Sparked community co-design workshop held in Brisbane, AHPA’s Policy and Strategy Senior Advisor and Digital Health Program Manager Jackie O’Connor delivered presentation on data sharing and chronic disease management.
Jackie explained the enormous diversity in the data currently shared between allied health professionals and a consumers care team within information summaries and care plans, in the context of chronic disease management.
The presentation also highlighted how the implementation of national data standards creates opportunities to improve data sharing to achieve benefits such as:
- limiting delays in treatment provision
- optimising care outcomes
- decreasing costs for various stakeholders and empowering consumers with one set of holistic goals.
The challenge
The challenge remains – how to digitise and share data (beyond what is required to be shared formally) now, so that allied health professionals are motived to participate.
We look forward to working with Sparked and the workshop attendees to address this challenge into the future.
Upcoming webinar
Jackie will present a shortened version of this presentation at the next Sparked CDG update webinar on 2 October at 12:00 pm AEST.
A summary of the outcomes of the workshops and next steps will be presented by Sparked, we encourage all those who can to attend, learn and begin participating in this critical piece of work which desperately requires increased allied health involvement.
