HAASA’s advocacy role is focused on keeping its members fully up to date regarding matters that directly affect them as clinicians but also have implications for the hearing impaired clients that HAASA members care for daily. The organisation regularly liaises with Federal Government departments, other professional bodies, educational training organisations, community group and hearing device manufacturers and suppliers on behalf of its members.
HAASA membership provides accreditation with the Commonwealth Hearing Services. To be a Full Member of the Society, Audiometrists must undergo examination of both their practical and theoretical skills and knowledge. They then undertake to abide by the rigorous Standards of Practice, Rules of Conduct and Ethical Standards set down by the Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society of Australia. A programme of Continuing Professional Education Development (CPED) must be undertaken and achieved over a set period of time in order to meet the requirements of membership of the Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society Australia.
