Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society of Australia

The Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society of Australia (HAASA) or Australian Audiometrist Association as it was originally known, has been representing clinicians in the in the Hearing Health Industry since 1961. As such it is the longest established professional body in the industry.

HAASA’s advocacy role is focused on keeping its members fully up to date regarding matters that directly affect them as clinicians but also have implications for the hearing impaired clients that HAASA members care for daily. The organisation regularly liaises with Federal Government departments, other professional bodies, educational training organisations, community group and hearing device manufacturers and suppliers on behalf of its members.

HAASA membership provides accreditation with the Commonwealth Hearing Services. To be a Full Member of the Society, Audiometrists must undergo examination of both their practical and theoretical skills and knowledge. They then undertake to abide by the rigorous Standards of Practice, Rules of Conduct and Ethical Standards set down by the Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society of Australia.  A programme of Continuing Professional Education Development (CPED) must be undertaken and achieved over a set period of time in order to meet the requirements of membership of the Hearing Aid Audiometrist Society Australia.

HAASA members are dedicated to upholding the highest possible standards of practice to ensure quality hearing health care into the future.  Members of HAASA are hearing aid Audiometrists who have met the requirements and standards established by the Society.  HAASA members provide hearing tests, guidance in the selection of appropriate hearing aids, fitting, and the latest in computer software programming. Further counselling and rehabilitation is then offered to the client as required.
