Department of Social Services on NDIS legislative reforms

AHPA made a submission to Department of Social Services on NDIS legislative reforms.

AHPA welcomes many of the amendments in the Exposure Draft of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Participant Service Guarantee and Other Measures) Bill 2021 and associated proposed changes to the NDIS Rules, particularly the proposed requirements for greater transparency and accountability and clearer timeframes associated with NDIS processes.

However, we oppose some reforms because they compromise participant choice and control. We are therefore also concerned that the public has only had a very limited time to consider a range of complex documents.

AHPA made a further submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee Inquiry into NDIS Amendment (Participant Service Guarantee and Other Measures) Bill 2021 In November 2021 and a supplementary submission again in November 2021.

AHPA reiterated our concerns after minor amendments were made to the Bill and it was referred to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee.
