This document responds to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Inquiry into the NDIS Workforce. The submission highlights issues that AHPA and our member associations have identified with the NDIS workforce.
AHPA notes that the interaction of the NDIS with other systems, such as health, is not effectively supporting the coordinated growth and development of the disability workforce. There are a range of different government stakeholders involved in initiatives that impact the disability workforce, and an overall uncertainty about roles and responsibilities in relation to the allied health disability workforce.
These issues were further exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is also addressed in the submission.
