Submission: Ensuring quality allied health in aged care

This Policy Brief outlines how, despite being central to many of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, allied health services are still significantly underprovided and underfunded for people who receive aged care.

As consultation on in-home aged care reforms is still proceeding, the Brief focuses on residential aged care, but many of its themes are relevant to the aged care system as a whole.

AHPA addresses the key elements of the aged care system that are relevant to allied health, identifies their current flaws and weaknesses, and makes recommendations for how Australia’s aged care system can genuinely meet older people’s assessed allied health needs.
